The Restaurant

You will find that we are not your average fabricated pub/restaurant. It has taken twenty four years to mould The Meadow House into what it is now. Therefore we take a lot of pride in seeing that standards are kept as high as possible with a complete refurbishment in May 2004. The business as a whole is familyThe Meadow House Restaurant run so we look to provide a friendly family atmosphere, with comfortable surroundings that offer good food and drink at reasonable prices. So far this has been achieved, we hope! When you arrive during the summer months you will be greeted by our award winning garden. Our team of 5 gardeners work all year round to ensure that you get the right impression when you first enter the grounds.

On entering the restaurant one of our friendly waitresses will seat you at an appropriate table be it smoking or non-smoking. The staff will provide you with full table service throughout your meal. The restaurant staff have been trained by David Hearn the manager to the Licensee. David has worked in the second highest ranking restaurant in Britain, so the service is of a high standard. David is also the resident Sommelier, so if you have any requests or questions about the 50 + selection of wines he will be glad to help.

The Head Chef and Proprietor, Edith Hearn , organises daily made specials along with a weekend special menu. Over the year we put on over 1200 different main courses and 600 desserts and starters. The kitchen team endeavour to use as much local produce as possible. We get daily deliveries of fresh baked bread, fresh Eyemouth fish, fruit and vegetables and all meat products. We use Buccleuch Scottish beef which is hung perfectly and fed the old fashioned way - grass only. All game and other meats come from local slaughter houses and organised shoots.

The chefs have the luxury of picking fresh herbs from the garden daily which are used in the sauces and salads. One thing the Meadow House is famous for, is it's chips. Every morning winter or summer, they are made from scratch. Washed, peeled, eyed, blanched then cooked, to give you the perfect crispy chip. The menu has a wide range of choice, whether you are in the mood for a slap up four course meal or just a sarnie and a cup of coffee. Children and vegetarians are also catered for with individual menus to suit. If you want to treat yourself but also watch your waistline, its not a problem! Half portions of most main courses and desserts are always available upon request.

We can cater for almost every occasion including coach parties, wedding receptions, funeral receptions, buffets, high teas and even off-site functions. The restaurant will seat 100 comfortably so don't be hesitant to enquire about holding a function if you have large numbers. Also, the entire building is perfect for wheelchair users as there are no steps or inclines. So if you have already visited us, or are planning to visit us in the future, please leave a note in our comments box about your visit or any questions you have. If you think we could improve in any way or indeed have any complaints please feel free to let us know. We look forward to seeing you.
